Solutions for Schools and/or Other Network Systems

Some schools and other network systems may use multiple domains AND may also place restrictions on certain users.  In this case, a user may be unable to open the CubeWriter software.  In other cases, the CubeWriter keyboard may open, but the text-based document (Notepad or Word) does not open.  In either of these cases it is likely a system restriction problem.  If this is happening on your system, here are several solutions/suggestions on how to allow the user access to the program and documents.

Situation: The CubeWriter icon DOES NOT appear on the individual user’s desktop/screen or the user is unable to open any portion of the program.

Solution: CubeWriter may have been installed on a different domain. Re-Install CubeWriter in the domain that the user is allowed to access, or give the individual “user rights” on the other domain.

Situation: CubeWriter’s keyboard is opening but the document (Notepad or Word) is not opening/accessible:

Solution: The two default programs (Notepad and Word) each have one file named “Writer” that installs on the computer’s “C” drive when the program is initially installed.  These are the documents that open automatically when pressing the “Run Keyboard” key.  IF the user DOES NOT have access to the “C” drive, CubeWriter can not find or open the document. Therefore, a new document needs to be created (a blank document in Notepad or Word) and saved in the user’s folder (i.e. My Documents).  See “ADDING and USING Other Programs” in “Using Other Features - page 9” for detailed instructions on how to create/save a program (document). Add this document to the list of programs in the Program section of the administrator screen.  Highlight and use this as the user’s document.
